A Professor of Biomaterials Sciences and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Dr. Rha heads the Biomaterials Science and Engineering Laboratory at the Institute. Professor Rha’s research is aimed at the discovery and engineering of novel biomolecules in a complex systems biology framework and biomaterials for process manufacturing. The focus is on determination of their structure, function and bioactivity.
Professor Rha was the founding and principal investigator for the “Malaysia-MIT Biotechnology Partnership Program”, a Malaysian national biotechnology program supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation that involved collaborative research, development and training between nineteen Malaysian organizations and MIT. Professor Rha has published more than 200 scientific articles and holds over 20 patents. Her research and discoveries have been instrumental in the commercialization and start-up of several biotechnology ventures.
Dr Ismail Tambi is a Consultant Clinical Andrologist and a Reproductive and Sexual Health Specialist. Malaysia’s only Clinical Andrologist, he pursued a World Health Organization research fellowship in clinical andrology and semenology. He is currently practising at the Men’s Health Clinic Damai Service Hospital. Dr Ismail has studied the use of Physta™for more than ten years in men, and has been a strong proponent of Tongkat Ali.
Over the years, he has studied its safety, efficacy in improving quality of life in men, improving sexual vitality and fertility. He has presented in numerous conferences and published several books and research papers namely two peer-reviewed journals on his work, which are “Standardised water-soluble extract of Eurycoma longifolia, Tongkat ali, as testosterone booster for managing men with late-onset hypogonadism?,” published in Andrologia,1-5, 2011 and “Eurycoma longifolia Jack in managing idiopathic male infertility”, published in Asian Journal of Andrology12: 376–380, 2010.
Dr Tambi also conducts postmarketing studies on Tongkat Ali (under the brand name of Nu-Prep), conducts seminars and frequently speaks on TV about his research and topics associated with Male Health, including the effect of Tongkat Ali on Aging Male Syndrome.
Prof Ralf Henkel is a Senior Professor at the Department of Medical Biosciences, University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Prior to this, Prof Henkel worked as an investigator in several hospital institutes for more than 20 years in Germany, focusing on Reproductive Medicine including in-vitro fertilization. He is the Regional Coordinator in Africa of Asian Journal of Andrology, and on the Editorial Board of several leading Journals including Andrologia. His current research interests focuses on Andrological area such as impact of reactive species on sperm functions,fertilization and pregnancy, leading to over 300 journal papers under his name and author of several books. He keenly investigates natural remedies such that led to the publication of “Effect of Eurycoma longifolia Jack (Tongkat ali) extract on human spermatozoa in vitro” published in Andrologia xx,1-7, 2012, using Physta™– the proprietary and standardized Tongkat Ali extract from Biotropics.
Anthony J. Sinskey, Sc.D. is a Professor of Microbiology and Engineering Systems at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, and a Professor of Health Sciences and Technology at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, and he has been a member of the faculty at MIT since 1968. Dr. Sinskey also holds positions as Co-Director of the Malaysia-MIT Biotechnology Partnership Program and as Faculty Director of the Center for Biomedical Innovation. Dr. Sinskey is a co-founder and a member of the boards of directors of Metabolix, Inc. and Tepha, Inc. and a consultant to several chemical and biotechnology companies. Dr. Sinskey holds an Sc.D. from MIT and a B.S. from the University of Illinois, and he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr Shawn Talbott holds an MS in exercise science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a PhD in nutritional biochemistry from Rutgers Uinversity. He is also a graduate of Entrepreneurial Masters Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked with elite athletes as part of the United States Olympic Training Centers’ Performance Enhancement Team and runs active lifestyle research program near Salt Lake City. He is the author of many books including The Secret of Vigor: How to Overcome Burnout, Restore Biochemical Balance, and Reclaim Your Natural Energy (Hunter House Publishers, 2011).
Dr. Talbotts’ past working experience include Senior Food Technologist at Nabisco Foods Group – Functional Foods Division, East Hanover, New Jersey. He later joined as Director of Scientific Affairs at Nutrition Division of Nu Skin Enterprises, Pharmanex, Inc., Utah. He was theEditor-in-Chief for Journal of Dietary Supplements and an Associate Clinical Professor at the College of Health, University of Utah. He is currently Vice President for Research & Development at MonaVie – South Jordan, Utah. Dr Talbott has investigated the use of Eurycoma longifolia in increasing endurance in cyclists and is currently investigating the benefits of Eurycoma longifolia in treating fatigue related to stress. He is the inventor to patent pending on Eurycoma longifolia- US patent Application No 20070224302, titled “Maintaining Anabolic Hormone Profile During Weight Loss and Intense Exercise” where Eurycoma longifolia is able to increase testosterone and decrease cortisol is stressed subjects.
Dr. Sun is a chief scientist, professor and chief physician, with expertise in anti-aging and stem cell technologies. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, and has a post-doctorate from the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center of Georgetown University. His early work on therapies includes autologous bone marrow stem cell transplantation in the treatment of lower limb ischemia, embryonic stem cell transplantation, mesenchymal stem cell transplantation and oncogen interventional therapy.
In 2008, he began work on the application of autologous cells for anti-aging, wrinkle removal, breast augmentation, autologous PRP and skin rejuvenation among others. His other accomplishments include introducing American stem cell activating enzymes (SCAEs) technology and the Japanese agaricin technology to China, as well as the development of related high-end anti-aging products.
Dr Shaiful Bahari Ismail is a Professor of Family Medicine. He graduated from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1992. He completed his postgraduate training in the MMED program (Family Medicine) in USM in 1999 and in the same year obtained his MAFP/FRACGP qualification. In 2006, he completed his one-year Fellowship training program in Male Sexual and Reproductive Health at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
His research interests are chronic diseases especially Diabetes Mellitus and hypertension, and research in the area of sexual and reproductive health. He was involved in more than 40 multicentre, multinational clinical trials mainly in the area of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and obesity. He was also involved in many herbal and honey trials especially in the area of sexual and reproductive health. He has more than 45 publications both at national and international level. He is currently the Deputy Dean (Academic and Students Development), School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Prof Shaiful was the Principal Investigator for the first randomised placebo controlled clinical trial of Tongkat Ali in a large population, investigating the effect of Tongkat Ali in the improvement of Quality and Life, Physical and Sexual Wellbeing in men.
